Hello City Council members
I have lived in Petaluma for 28 years and I'm a home owner here.
I'm writing the council to relay my thoughts on water resources and the quality of life
here in Petaluma.
I was recently encouraged when I read in the Press Democrat that Mayor David
Glass and councilwoman Teresa Barrett suggested we consider a moratorium on
building in Petaluma.
However, I realize some may consider that an unacceptable as an option.
Unfortunately, that type of leadership doesn't address the current fact we can't water
and maintain what we have already in place.
We can't predict reliably when or if we will have more water in the future.
My family and I moved to Petaluma for a calmer and less crowed way of life.
We realized some growth is likely to occur yet it would be balanced by the
maintenance of our small town way of life.
We hoped it would be thoughtful and measured in it's scope.
We believe Petaluma has reached the tipping point in terms of growth and is now
over developed and unmanageable sprawl has set in.
I hope the council will agree that our growth and our resources have surpassed
compatibility.
Best regards,
Mike Del Ross
