CITY. CODE, OF 1958 BAY AMENDING S IONS` 4.29, 4.32 I 4.36, 4..38., -4.44 -AND ADDING SECTION 4,.,47 -TO ESTA- BLISH FEES AND CHARGES WITH RESPECT TO ANIMALS KEPT OR.SERUED-BY THE POUND, TO ESTABLISH LICENSE FEES AND TO ESTABLISH P_.MINIMUM FINE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS FOLLOWS: I Section 1'. Article 2,, Section 4.29 and 4 , 3.2 • are• hereby. amended to:read as follows: Sec. 4.29: Sales of impounded, animates' -=Generally. The poundmaster may sell, subject to the .owner's right of re- demption..and,to.:sections 4.2,6 and 4,28 and 4.30 -of this -Code, any, impounded dog or -other animal after the fourth: day of its impoundment for a minimum of Five,Dollars-in cash, -plus sales tax, with the.exception, however, that-ca.ts may be'sold for a minimum of Five Dollars plus sales tax plus.`Twenty-five Dollars to cover the cost of n utering ,or. spaying as.. required by State Law; or actual cost, whichever is.greater.. Should more than•one person wish to purchase the same -dog or animal,, the poundmaster shall sell it to that person offering the.highest amount in cash over the minimums .,herein- established. Sec-. ' 4*. 32 . S'am'e!='=Fe'e' -and 'ch'arges . The poundmaster shall charge, receive and coll.ect.the following fines and charges upon,each impounded animal prior to its release: (a) The license .fee, if unpaid. (b-) . The 'redemption fee of Five Dollars upon first impoundment, t•Ten Dollars for second'.impoundment and Fifteen Dollars for third and each succeeding impoundment (c) Twenty=fi.ve Dollars for each -horse, colt,, jack-, mule, bull, steer, cow', calf, hog,,sheep or goat. (d)In addition to the above fees, the poundmaster shall charge and collect. the actual cost of feed plus the following sum per day for. feeding and caring for impounded animals: 1 For each,:dog $1.00 For each, cat, $1.00 For each horse,..colt, jack,`mule, bull,, steer, cows -'calf-, hog; sheep., . goait, or other animal. not= -specified• above. $2:00 (e) Any animal.btoughtt.or.given to the.pound by the owner thereof for the,purpose'of either adoption -or destruction shall pay -a fee of`Two Dollars. '(f) A fee - of , -Ten, Dollars . per hour, or:.f taction- thereof' shall ' be charge& for services rendered in rounding up or corraling. large animals'. S All -dogs -kept; harbored or maintained by their owners in the City shall be licensed. and,;registered if over four months of age,. Dog. licenses-shall:be-issued by the tax collector.,.or chief of police upon the payment of an -annual license -tax of Four Dollars on.each,-- such ,dog.. The, owner• shall. state- at.,.th''e. time such application is, made -.for such'license;--upon printed forms provided for the purpose his name' and` address. and,. the name,,. breed, color and sex of each - dog owned or kept by him,. Owners of cats,may obtain.a license upon presentation,of:a current rabbi.es certificate;.;for the, sum of Four Dollars-. Sec,. 4.39:. Penalty. for, -'ha'te,; registration. In addition -to the;,lcense and registration fee provided for in section- 4'.36 of this Code, the taxtcol'1ect'or or chief of police 4 shall collect, -•a delinquency fee of Eight, -Dollars -for any license;: applied -for -more than thirty days after the,.same.should have - been: -procured.
