Thismork has .included "the technical conceptualization, strategic " definition, and development of advanced transportation and vehicle systems. I recently completed a ,major project working with the auto industry and-the US DOT to develop an a system to improve safety and mobility by providing vehicle; to- vehicle and vehicle -to- roadside communications :technology (;IntelliDrive). I am currently engaged in two related projects: We are a subcontractor onthe i680 High Occupancy Toll „(HOT)'°Lanes °project sponsored by MTC where we, ,will be developing an advanced transportation test bed to support evaluation of new technologies to support the MTC HOT Lanes. We are also engaged in a long range multidi5ciplihary' project in 'partnership with the UC Berkeley Transportation Sustainability Research Center to develop ,a research plan for a multimodal Integrated Adaptive Transportation System (TATS). This project is funded by the FHWA T rner - Fairbank Highway Iq I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, and a Masters Degree in'Electronic Engineering from Stanford University. ne I have 'a deep understanding of the issues surrounding transportation systems. This includes the technological aspects as well as the non- technical barriers and motivations that impact the implementation of such projects.,,As a result I feel I bring an_ informed view to the assesment and recommendation process, and. would add substantial value `to the work of the committee. Having' recently moved to the area - from the Silicon Valley area, tarn keenly aware of the need to balance effective transport, which. is .needed to support economic viability, with environmental, growth and quality of life concerns. - To be truly effective any transportation system must not only meet the needs of the citizens, it serves,'it must also fit gracefuly.into the local, environment, the existing1r.ansportation infrastructure, and the sensibilities of the local users and residents. 4' I am_ founder and Techical Partner of a small engineering consulting firm in Petaluma. Our firm.,is engaged in projects aimed at improving transportation mobility and safety. I am also engaged in formal research work to better understand the complex interplay between social, political,- .economic and ;legal (SPEL) constraints relative to the deployemnt of new technologically d "riven transportation systems. I feel this depth will enhance the insight of the Committee. 15 ^ . . ^ ^ ^ » ' ^ ` - ON YES NO None YES NO City; Of Petaluma WOO site e-newsletter go Revised August l2'2OO8 ° ^ 16 Scott Andrews 915 Western Ave. (650) 279 -0242 Petaluma, CA 94952 Summary Creative, energetic, and innovative internationally recognized executive experienced in general management, systems engineering, advanced product development, advanced technology, development, strategic planning, and program management • Vehicle Electrical /Electronics Systems • Enterprise Software • Vehicle Information Systems • Multimedia /Internet Computing • Communications Systems • Vehicle Safety and Control Systems • ITS and Related - Industries • Spacecraft Electronics • Program and Project Management • Mobile Information Technology 12 /2001- Present Consultant Experience Systems Engineering, business development and technical strategy consulting supporting automotive and information technology.
