As the Sonoma County Field Representative for Assemblymember Jared Huffman, I cover
many issue areas in the North Bay with a focus on transportation. With Assemblymember
Huffman taking an active role in both campaigns in 2006 and 2008, a standard has been set
for this office to stay very closely connected with the progress of the SMART train. Previous
to this position I "worked for North Bay Leadership Council (NBLC), a non- profit policy group
comprised of major employers in Marin and Sonoma, Counties, as the Vice President. Also
instrumental in both SMART campaigns, one of NBLC's main issue areas is transportation.
This focus :allowedme, to research and 'immerse myself in how to bring intelligent and
cohesive methods of alternative modes of transportation to the North Bay. While the SMART
train was successful with the passage of Measure Q in 2008, connections will be key to the
success' of this project: I would be honored to have the opportunity to offer my perspective
from a business, non- ,profit and government view point, but most importantly as a citizen of
Petaluma,. on how ensure the most successful SMART stations in the City of Petaluma.

this advisory body:
As al native of the North Bay and resident of Petaluma for almost four years, I have watched
the progress of the SMART ,train. I posses a passion for the community and for increasing
alternate modes of transportation choices in Petaluma and the North Bay region. With my
diverse background, I posses a working knowledge of-transportation systems and have been
ablelto closely study and observe the SMART train progress. As a person who lives and
works in the City of Petaluma, I understand the needs of the community in order to make the
station connections in the city successful and l hope you will allow me the opportunity to voice
my opinions as the SMART train enters this vital stage of planning.
Is there any other'information that you feel would be useful to the tity.;Councii'in reviewing
,your application?
Being born .and raised in the North Bay and a homeowner on the east side of Petaluma, I feel
strongly that the SMART train will be a huge benefit to the community. I can offer perspective
from' a number of backgrounds, and posses my own passion and pride for Petaluma with a
strong motivation-to see the City of Petaluma thrive with the addition of SMART train stations,
a essential alternate mode of transportation for our city.
