APPROVING APPLICATION TO THE FEDERAL AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION FOR THE AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
AIP -25 FY 15/16 GRANT FUNDING TO UPDATE THE AIRPORT LAYOUT
PLAN AND TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
CALTRANS DIVISION OF AERONAUTICS FOR A 5% GRANT MATCH,
AND AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDING
FROM BOTH AGENCIES AND EXECUTE ALL GRANT RELATED DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma and the Federal Aviation Administration are parties to
Federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant 3 -06- 0186 -25 for the Airport Layout Plan
(ALP) Narrative and Terrain Survey; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation, pursuant to the Public
Utilities Code section 21683. 1, provides grants of 5% of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
grants to airports; and
WHEREAS, the FAA requires an ALP Narrative and Terrain Survey update every 5 -10
years in order to remain eligible for grant funding; and
WHEREAS, at its August 6, 2015 meeting, the Petaluma Airport Commission
recommended using this year's AIP 25 grant funding for the ALP Narrative and Terrain Survey;
and
WHEREAS,, the projected cost of the above project is $166,000 of which the FAA
grant portion (90 %) is $150,000 and the Cal Trans match is $7,500; and
WHEREAS, the remaining local match of $8,500 is identified in the Airport CIP budget
for FY 16/17; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration and the California Department of
Transportation requires the Petaluma City Council to adopt a resolution authorizing the
submission of an application for an FAA AIP Grant and an AIP Matching grant from the
California Department of Transportation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Petaluma hereby
1. Authorizes filing an application for a state AIP Matching grant and an FAA AIP 25 Grant
for this project; and
2. Authorizes accepting the allocation of state AIP Matching funds and FAA AIP 25 grant
funds for the project; and.

3. Authorizes execution of an AIP Matching Grant Agreement and an FAA AIP 25 Grant
Agreement for this project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the of the City of Petaluma
does hereby authorize the City Manager, to sign any documents required to apply for and accept
these subject funds on behalf of the City of Petaluma.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
