Felix Huerta, Business Agent, AFSCME Local 675, said that today he submitted what he thinks is a
very fair proposal to tie employee wage increases with the CPI. He reminded Council that during
and since the recession, employees have continued to work diligently to maintain City services,
even after the workforce was reduced.
Ken Whaley, President, AFSCME Local 675, told Council that employees made a lot of sacrifices
to keep the city going during the recession, and maintained the same level of performance with
fewer employees. They have not had their pay increased for 7 years. The economy is getting
better. People in other cities are getting raises, and employees here should, too.
Seeing no other persons wishing to speak, Mayor Glass closed Public Comment on CLOSED
SESSION items.
