He reminded Council that during and since the recession, employees have continued to work diligently to maintain City services, even after the workforce was reduced. Ken Whaley, President, AFSCME Local 675, told Council that employees made a lot of sacrifices to keep the city going during the recession, and maintained the same level of performance with fewer employees. They have not had their pay increased for 7 years. The economy is getting better. People in other cities are getting raises, and employees here should, too.
