HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 00-178 N.C.S. 10/02/2000 -I ~Zesolution No.00-17~ N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RUTH®RIZING IlVIPROVEIVIENTS TO THE PETALUMA SWIM CENTER AND AWARIDING THE BID T® BURICETT P®®L PLASTERING INC., TO RESURFACE THE PETALUNIA SWIlVI CENTER F®R THE A1VI®UNT ®F $ 207,250. WHEREAS, the Petaluma Swim Center is in need of physical improvements including re- surfacing of both pools, replacement of underwater lighting, and replacement of the chlorination system; and WHEREAS, funding from the General Fund is not available during the current fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of California, through his 2000-01 budget has authorized funding under the recently approved State Park Bond Proposition 12, with funds available in the late spring of 2001; and WHEREAS, the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation, as fiscal and project agent, has notified the City of Petaluma that agencies may proceed with local projects, with funding under the Per Capita Grant Program to be available for reimbursement in the Spring of 2001; and WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission, in order to keep the Petaluma Swim Center open to the citizens of Petaluma as a safe and well maintained recreational facility, recommends undertaking the necessary physical improvements to the facility; and WHEREAS, bids have heretofore been invited in accordance with law for the performance of certain work for the City of Petaluma generally described as re-plastering the two pools at the Petaluma Swim Center, 900 E. Washington St.; and WHEREAS, bids were received, opened, and read in accordance with law and the Director of Parks and Recreation has made his report thereon, a copy of which is attached hereto and by reference incorporated herein; and WHEREAS, the Council has thoroughly considered said report of the Director of Parks and Recreation and as a result has concluded that the bid of Burkett Pool Plastering Inc., on the basis of the solicitation for performance in accordance with the aforesaid solicitation and bid submitted, be and the same is hereby approved and accepted; and Reso. 00-178 NCS Page 1 N®W, TREREF®RE, BE IT RES®I,VED, that the City Council of the City of Petaluma, all prerequisite findings and determinations having been made in accordance with law; that the bid of said Burkett Pool Plastering Inc., computed to total $ 207,250 on the basis of the solicitation for performance in accordance with the aforesaid solicitation and bid submitted, be and the same is hereby approved and accepted; and IT IS FURTRER RES®I,VEID, that the City of Petaluma enter into a contract with the said successful bidder for performance as herein. indicated for the amount of said bid and for performance in accordance with plans and specifications heretofore prepared, approved, and on file in the office of the Director of Parks and Recreation, and the City Manager be and is herby authorized and directed to execute such contract, and the City Director of Finance is hereby authorized to pay all proper claims for performance of said contract out of fund 209. IT IS FITRTRER RES®I,VEI), that the City Council authorizes staffto proceed with improvement to the Petaluma Swim Center as specified in the Director's report, utilizing Park Development Fees from existing projects, with reimbursement to come from State Park Bond Per Capita Funding. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
