4 SETTING WATER RATES ANID
5 CHARGES PURSUANT T® CHAPTER 16.16 OF THE
6 PETALUMA MUNICIPAL C®DE
7 REPEALS RES®LUTI®N 94-317 N.C.S. IN ITS ENTIRETY

9 WHEREAS, the Petaluma Municipal Code Title 15 provides for the establishment and operation of
0 a water system and the charging of certain fees and charges; and

2 WHEREAS, Chapter 15.16 provides the setting of certain fees and charges by resolution; and
3
4 WHEREAS, Resolution 94-317 N.C.S. adopted December 5, 1994 set various fees and charges
5 currently in effect.

7 NOW, THEREF®RE ~E IT RES®LVEID that the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby
8 sets the following fees and charges:

0 Section 1 -Metered Services -Fixed Service Charge.

5 5/8 or 3/4 inch $3.00

7 1 1/2 inch $6.00
8 2 inch $8.70

5 Section 2 -Water Consumption.

7 $1.34 for each 1.00 cubic feet of water registered through the meter

9 Section 3 -Private Fire Protection.

1 Water consumed for fire or other uses shall be charged at the consumption rate in Section 2.

3 Section 4 -Public Fire Hydrant Service to City or Other Public Authority.

5 A) Water consumed for fire or other public. related uses shall be charged at the consumption
6 rate in Section 2.

8 B) There shall be a minimum charge of $2.00 per hydrant per year.

0 Section 5 -Billing-Period and Pro-ration.

2 A) The billing period shall be bimonthly which is an average of every 60.8 days.

4 B) The monthly fixed charges in other sections of this resolution shall be doubled for
5 purposes of the bimonthly billing and pro-ration of the bimonthly bill.

7 C) Pro-ration of the bill shall be done if the billing period is less than 54 days or greater
8 than 66 days:

0 Section 6 -Return Check Fee Shall Be $15.

2 Section 7 -Turn-on due to resumption of service from payment of delinquent bill shall be $30.00.

4 Section 8 -Turn-on or off of service or other services at the request or caused by the consumer,
5 regardless of reason, after 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, holidays or weekends shall be $60.00
6 per service call.

8 Section 9 -Deposit to open account or re-establish an account due to delinquency shall be $50.00.

0 Section 10 -The first delinquent notice mailed to the consumer shall cause a $5 charge to be added
1 to the consumer account.

3 Section 11 -Meter Testing Deposit.

1 Section 12 -Miscellaneous Fees and Charges.

3 Actual cost for various services plus a 20% adrrunistrative charge will be charged to the consumer
4 for services requested or caused by the consumer.

6 Section 13 -Meter Penalty Charges.

8 A) There is a $50 first time penalty for a meter valve being turned on and/or unauthorized
9 taking of water by anyone other than City employees. This penalty also may be imposed for
0 damaging or unauthorized tampering of City water service.

1 B) There is a $200 penalty for each additional action.

3 Section 14 -fire Hydrant Load Meter.

5 A) A $1,200 deposit shall be required by the consumer in order to obtain a meter and
6 connection to a fire hydrant.

8 B) A $2.00 per day meter charge will be levied for use of the meter.
9
0 C) The applicant will be charged for the actual water use based on the rates in Section 2.

2 Section 15 -Bridge Meter.

4 A) A $600 deposit shall be required by the consumer in order to obtain a meter and
5 connection to a fire hydrant.

7 B) A $2.00 per day meter charge will be levied for use of the meter.

9 C) The applicant will be charged for the actual water use based on the rates in Section 2.

1 Section 16 -Construction Service.

3 A) A $100 deposit shall be required fora 3/4 inch or 1 inch construction meter set at curb
4 stop.

6 B) A $1.00 per day meter charge will be levied for use of the meter.
7
8 C) The applicant will be chazged for the actual water use based on the rates in Section 2.

0 Section 17 -The charges in Resolution 94-317 N.C.S. shall remain in effect until the effective date
1 of the charges in this Resolution.

3 .Section 18 -The charges in this Resolution shall be effective as follows:

5 A) The charges in Section 2 -Water Consumption -shall be effective for all bills issued
6 after October 30, 2000.
7
8 B) All other charges in this Resolution shall be effective for services provided after October
9 30, 2000.
