HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 00-187H N.C.S. 10/16/2000 ~Zesolution No. 00-187-I N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND ESTABLISHING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION BUII.I)ING MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR DESIGNATED TO UNIT 9 (MID-MANAGEMENT) BE IT RESOLVED that the Classification Plan and Compensation Plan, as originally adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 90-209 N.C.S., and the classification titles and specifications as adopted by Resolution No. 90-147 N.C.S., are hereby amended by establishing the classification of Building Maintenance Supervisor for the Public Facilities and Services Department (as attached hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is taken pursuant to Personnel Code 2.04..020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations (Rule IV, Section 5) for classifications included in the Competitive Service of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has been properly posted and that the City Manager recommends this action. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 90-147 N.C.S., as amended, is hereby amended to include the classification of Building Maintenance Supervisor and assigning this classification to Unit 9 (Mid-Management), with a salary range of $4435 - $4657 - $4890 - $5134 - $5391, effective July 10, 2000. Reports To: Public Facilities NlanaQer FLSA: Exempt v SL~NIMARY Directs activities of workers concerned with repair and maintenance of buildings, facilities, or other related construction or repair projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates . Directs institutional-public, facilities `building maintenance program to ensure clean, .orderly, and attractive conditions of public facilities by performing the following duties through subordinates. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties maybe assigned. . Develops and implements specifications and procedures for maintenance and repairs of.faciltes on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase.of operation. Assembles and coordinates members. of staff prior to start of maintenance or repair proj ects: Orders procurement of tools aril .materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules. Confers-with ;arid directs subordinate personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing buildng~maintenance.and custodial work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of maintenance. or construction activities to prevent delays. Confers with supervisory personnel. to resolve complaints grid grievances within work force. Confers with super~isgry and engirieerin~ personnel and. inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve mainterianee or~construction problems and improve methods. ' Inspects work in;progress to ensure that workmanship conforrris to specifications and the adherence to maintenance or construction schedules. Prepares or reviews reports ~ori facility maintenance progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports. Directs workers,concerned with maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations. Establishes standards and procedures for work of mainteriance;and housekeeping staff. Plans work schedules and equipment to ensure adequate service. Responsible to regularly inspect and evaluates physical condition of establishments. Submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment; and reallocation of space as well as budgetary items. Periodically inventories supplies and equipment.. Investigate"s new and improved cleaning instruments and methods. Participates: in the. selection and purchasing of new furnishings. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises a total of 6 - 8 employees in -the Building Maintenance. Division. Under the direction of the Public Facilities iVlanager is responsible .to provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of subordinate employees. Carnes .out supervisory responsibilities . in accordance with the ,oraanization'spolicics, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing 'and. recommending for hire; training, employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;. appraising performance; recommends rewarding and disciplining subordinate employees; addressing:~internal, and external complaints ,and resolving problems.
