HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 00-187N N.C.S. 10/16/2000 Resolution No. 00-187N N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND ESTABLISHING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER ffi DESIGNATED TO UNIT Z (MAINTENANCE) BE IT RESOLVED that the Classification Plan and Compensation Plan, as originally adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 90-209 N.C.S., and the classification titles and specifications as adopted by Resolution No. 90-147 N.C.S., are hereby amended by establishing the classification of Parks Maintenance Worker III (as attached hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is taken pursuant to Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations (Rule IV, Section 5) for classifications included in the Competitive Service of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has been properly posted and that the City Manager recommends this action. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 90-147 N.C.S., as amended, is hereby amended to include the classification of Parks Maintenance Worker III and assigning this classification to Unit 2 (Maintenance), with a salary range of $18.70 - $19.64 - $20.62 - $21.65 - $22.73 per hour, effective July 10, 2000. Performs. tree maintenance on streets, medians, easements and in parks. Performs weed abatement as assigned; performs related work as assigned. The Parks -Maintenance Worker III. is the advanced. skilled level class of theParks Maintenance Worker series. Incumbents are capable of independently performing highly skilled.parks maintenance duties. In addition, the work xnay include providing direction;-to an assistant or small crew on a~ project basis. This class is distinguished from the Lead Parks IVlaintenarice Worker in class in that the latter is a working lead level_responsible for assigned parks maintenance staff ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES . Performs highly skilled and specialized parks maintenance duties; Mows, trims, edges, fertilizes, aerifies and irrigates .lawns,. medians, parks and. other areas; Weeds, prunes, mulches, fertilizes, and sprays~trees, shrubs and groundcover; Prepares soil for planting, seeds and re-sods lawns, plants trees,. seedlings and shrubs; Inspects assigned. areas, corrects or reports safety hazards; Cleans and: maintains grounds,: athietie fields, playground .areas, paths, walkways, and stairways; Cleans and maintain restrooms and other park.buildings; Performs basic-facility maintenance work incidental to park maintenance activities; .Picks up trash and aitter; Assists with the maintenance: of the City pool; Installs, repairs and maintains 'irrigation systems; Reads and interprets plans, specifications, blueprints and schematics; Stores, mixes. and sprays herbicides, fungicides and pesticides; Plants, proxies and maintains street and park trees; Removes stumps and cuts back roots, clears limbs and brush from signs;.
