RESOLUTION AlVIENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN
AND ESTABLISHING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION
PARKS 1VIAINT'ENANCE WORKER II
DESIGNATED TO UNIT 2 (1VIAINTENANCE)
BE IT RESOLVED that the Classification Plan and Compensation Plan, as
originally adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 90-209 N.C.S., and the classification titles and
specifications as adopted by Resolution No. 90-147 N.C.S., are hereby amended by establishing
the classification of Parks Maintenance Worker II (as attached hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and
made a part hereof).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this action is taken pursuant to Personnel
Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations (Rule IV, Section 5) for classifications
included in the Competitive Service of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has
been properly posted and that the City Manager recommends this action.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 90-147
N.C.S., as amended, is hereby amended to include the classification of Parks Maintenance Worker
II and assigning this classification to Unit 2 (Maintenance), with a salary range of $17.79 -$18.68
- $19.61 - $20.59 - $21:62 per hour, effective July 10, 2000.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.

Job Title: Parks Maintenance, Worker II
Department: Parks and Recreation
Reports To: Parks Foreworker
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, performs landscape and park maintenance duties in parks, medians'; and
other landscaped. areas; performs related work as assigned.
' The Parks Maintenance Worker II. is the journey level. class in this series. Incumbents perform the full
range of park and landscape ,maintenance duties: This class is distinguished from Parks Maintenance '
Lead Worker who provides direction and work review to several Parks Maintenance Workers and/or
crews.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES A1yD RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs general grounds maintenance of;raking, sweeping, garbage pick up, and rest room cleaning:
Mows, edges, trims,: airates, fertilizes, and renovates large and small turf areas;
Installs, repairs, and maintains imgation systems;
.Performs pest control.. operations using IPM techniques, which .include identification and diagnoses of
pest problems;
All duties related to plantmaintenanee; including turf, shrubs, trees, ground covers, and flowers;
Maintains, constructs and Yepairs :park structures;
Keeps tools & equipment in~proper working order;
Identify and report safety hazards;
Assist with maintenance of city pools;
. Responds to questions and complaints from'the public;
Uses equipment; including, liut not limited to; .dump trucks, tractors, riding mowers, walk behind
'mowers, edges, chain saws, weed eaters, :and blowers.
QUALIFICATIONS'

EDUCA')<'I®N and'/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in landscape and park
.maintenance; and/or course work in horticulture, or landscape maintenance and construction
equivalent to 2 years:
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Abilityto write routine reporEs and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, sub"tract, multiply, and divide in ali units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions; and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
' Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.
CERTIFICATES, 'LICENSES, I2:EGISTRATIONS
Must posses a valid California Drivers License, Class C, and have a satisfactory driving record.
Must possess a Qualf ed Applicators Certificate, or. License.
