HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 00-187P N.C.S. 10/16/2000 Resolution No. 00-187P N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION AlVIENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND ESTADLISRING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PARKS 1VIAINTENANCE WORKER I DESIGNATED TO UNIT 2 (1VIAINTENANCE) BE IT RESOLVED that the Classification Plan and Compensation Plan, as originally adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 90-209 N.C.S., and the classification titles and specifications as adopted by Resolution No. 90-147 N.C.S., are hereby amended by establishing the classification of Parks Maintenance Worker I (as attached hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof). BE IT FiJRTRER RESOLVED that this action is taken pursuant to Personnel Code 2.04.020 and Personnel Rules and Regulations (Rule IV, Section 5) for classifications included in the Competitive Service of the Personnel System, that the notice of this action has been properly posted and. that the City Manager recommends this action. NOW TIIEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED that the Resolution No. 90-147 N.C.S., as amended, is hereby amended to include the classification of Parks Maintenance Worker I and assigning this classification to Unit 2 (Maintenance), with a salary range of $14.37 - $15.09 - $15.84 - $16.63 - $17.47 per hour, effective July 10, 2000. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City. The Parks Maintenance Worker I is the entry-level class in the series. Initially under close supervision;.. incumbent"s learn.and perform a variety of duties in park and tree maintenance. This' class is alternately staffed with Parks Maintenance Worker II. ESSENTIAL, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs general grounds maintenance of raking, sweeping; garbage pick up, and rest room cleaning; Mows, edges, trim, aerates, fertilize, and.renovate large and small turf areas; Installs; repairs, and maintains irrigation systems; Performs pest. control. operations using IP1VI techniques,.. which include identification and diagnoses of pest,problems; All duties related to plant maintenance,.including turf, shrubs, trees, ground covers, and flowers; Maintains, constructs and repairs park structures; Keep tools & equipment. in proper working. order; . Identify and report: safety hazards;.. Assist with maintenance of city pools; . Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or .employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SHILLS Ability to add, subtract; multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and. decimals. Ability to compute rate; ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. - - . REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to, deal with problems in~-olving several. concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTR-~TLONS Must posses a valid California Drivers License, Class C, and have a satisfactory driving record.
