HomeMy WebLinkAboutPCDC Minutes 04/13/1987MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING PETALUMA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MONDAY, APRIL 13, 1987 ROLL CALL: 3:00 p.m. PRESENT: Davis, Sobel, Woolsey, Cavanagh, Balshaw, Vice Chairman Tencer, Chairman Hilligoss RIVER WALK STATUS Assistant Director Gene Beatty's report included the information that the Site Plan Architectural Review Committee will review the revised River Walk Plans on April 23. The River Walk Committee hopes to solicit bids and award the contract no later than July 1, 1987. PCDC RESO. 87-3 PUTNAM PARK DESIGN Resolution 87-3 authorizing execution of an agreement with Lieb and Quaresma, AIA and Associates for development of plans for the proposed Putnam Park to be located between Perry's Delicatessan and World of Words bookstore. The resolution was adopted unanimously. 1987-88 BUDGET DISCUSSION The Commission reviewed the proposed budget. Bill Gabbert, Chairman of the Main Street Program requested $40,000 from PCDC and Transient Occupancy Tax. He noted the Downtown Merchants Association has changed its name to Main Street Committee. Originally the Main Street program had anticipated an annual income of $IU,000 from AB -103 funds and $10,000 from the City and private sources. He noted now there are no business who are exempt from paying the AB -103 fees. There was discussion about how to quantify the benefit of the various promotional efforts, such as that of the Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street Committee, in order to determine the amount of increased sales that can be anticipated from an individual promotional effort. REPORT - N. PETALUMA REDEVELOPMENT AREA Staff presented a proposed timetable for processing the new redevelopment area. There will be a recommendation for proposed boundary amendments by the next PCDC meeting. FARMERS MARKET The Commission discussed the proposed Friday afternoon/evening summertime farmers market which is proposed to be held in the A Street Parking Lot. It was the Commission consensus that the market may be open from 3 to 8 p.m, on Fridays; growers from the surrounding counties including Yolo and Lake Counties. April 13, 1987 1 GARBAGE CAN ART DAY There will be a Garbage Can Art contest on Friday afternoon in Putnam Park. The decorated black, plastic 90 gallon cans will be received beginning at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon. COMMISSIONER REQUESTS -Discussion of permit parking in the A Street parking lot. -Report on the Keller garage use. -A River Crossing report (location of each end of the proposed pedestrian bridge, etc. so we can start getting permits) . -Crosswalk on Petaluma Blvd. North between Western and Washington.
