HomeMy WebLinkAboutPCDC Minutes 06/02/1986MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING PETALUMA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MONDAY, JUNE 2, 1986 Roll Call: 3:00 p.m. Present: Sobel, Cavanagh, Woolsey, Tencer, Vice -Chairman Balshaw, Chairman Mattei ABSENT: Davis * * arrived at 3:10 p.m. CAP'N SIMS BUILDING Executive Director John Scharer reported the Committee met on May 20, 1986 to review the proposals submitted for the acquisition of the property known as the Cap'n Sims Building. Subsequently, a cash offer to purchase the building was submitted. After some discussion relative to the future use of the property, it was agreed the Commission's goal is to have the building preserved and restored to reflect its historical heritage; and, to be assured the building would be used for retail sales. Mr. Jeff Harriman expressed concern as to the Commission's approach to the disposition of the property. Thereafter, it was the consensus of the Commission to accept sealed offers for the building by 5:00 p.m. on June 13, 1986 and to consider the offers to purchase at the next Commission meeting on June 16, 1986. After discussion, staff was directed to send out a new notice to bidders to reflect the following: proposals to be sealed; a minimum cash price of $155,000; loo of the offered price to accompany proposal; 15% of the offered price to guarantee renovation in one year after close of escrow; approval of Site Plan & Architectural Review Committee within 120 days of the close of escrow; a deposit to accompany the offer to guarantee completion of the renovation within one year after purchase which deposit would be refunded upon completion of improvements by the City's Site Plan & Architectural Review Committee.
