RU/DAT
The Executive Director, John Scharer, recommended the Commission set
aside $25,000 for a proposed RU/DAT study as described to the City
Council by Leroy Bean at their June 18, 1984, meeting. . The American
Institute of Architects has developed a process analysis team project to help
American communities by bringing in an interdisciplinary team of the best
available professionals drawn from across the nation who would respond to a
community's invitation to listen to its citizens perception of their issues and
study the local contexts as a 'basis for making recommendations for the
future development of the City. The City Council had expressed their
interest in pursuing this project at that Council meeting. The Commission
concurred with the Director's recommendation.
TURNING BASIN BEAUTIFICATION
The Commission reviewed a proposal to develop a promenade at the turning
basin. There was consensus that this be referred to the RU/DAT (see
above minute item) team for study. There was discussion of the need for
hydraulic information on water movement both at the Steamer Gold and the
Farrell House locations. The Executive Director requested that the
Commission appoint three members to work with him and 'with Walter
Kieckhefer, owner of the Eagle Shopping Center, regarding the proposal.
Chairman Mattei will appoint such a committee.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p . m .
