APPROVING THE USE OF GRANT FUND5 UNDER THE 2000
LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANTS PROGRAIVI
FOR PARTIAL FUNDING FOR ONE POLICE OFFICER POSITION ASSIGNED
TO THE SONOIVIA COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance has made funds available to the City of Petaluma
under the 2000 Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program for the purpose of reducing crime
and improving public safety, and;
WHEREAS, the grant funds must be used in one of the purpose areas specified by the grant
documents, and;
WHEREAS, the grant requires an Advisory Board to review the proposed use of funds, and;
WHEREAS, the Advisory Board reviewed the grant requirements and the proposed use of funds
on October 11, 2000, and;
WHEREAS, the Advisory Board, City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend the funds to
be used in the FY 00-01 Budget to maintain Petaluma's commitment to the Sonoma Countywide
Drug Task Force, and;
WHEREAS, a noticed public hearing was held on November 20, 2000, to hear public comments
regarding the recommended use of the grant funds.
NOW,. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council that;
1. The City Manager is authorized to accept funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance
with the 2000 Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program on behalf of the City.
2. The grant funds shall be deposited in the Police Trust Fund and accounted for separately
as required by the grant.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
REFERENCE: I hereby certify the foregoing Resolution was introduced and adopted by the
Council of the City of Petaluma at a Regular meeting on November 20, 2000, Approved as to
