HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 00-041 N.C.S. 03/06/2000 S®L,LTTIOI~T N®. oo-~i T.C.S. of e City of Petal~rria, California RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE GATTI PARK SITE AS THE LOCATION FOR THE SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL FIELDS ORIGINALLY PLANNED FOR THE CROSS CREEK SUBDIVISION. WHEREAS, as part of the Cross Creek Subdivision, an agreement between the City of Petaluma and Mardel LLC, provided for Mardel LLC to construct one baseball, one softball and one soccer field; and, WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) determined that athletic fields constructed at the Cross Creek site would not be appropriate for safety considerations; and WHEREAS, the agreement between the City of Petaluma and Mardel LLC, provides for the City of Petaluma to choose any other location within the City of Petaluma, for a softball and baseball field, with the City responsible for any grading and drainage; and WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission, in an effort to provide much needed playfields, investigated possible locations within the City for construction of the said athletic fields;. and WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission has determined that the best location 'for the baseball and softball fields would be at the proposed Gatti Park site; and WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission recommends to the City Council to designate the Gatti Park site as the location for the softball and baseball fields originally scheduled for the Cross Creek urban separator. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council designates the proposed Gatti Park site as the location for construction of the softball and baseball fields originally planned for the Cross Creek urban separator, and to be constructed by Mardel LLC. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council directs staffto start the planning and design process, including public hearings, to develop the Gatti Park site. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
