Resolution°No. 2008 037 N.C.S.
of the City of Petaluma, California
AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE REPLACEMENT
POLICE HANDGUNS, HOLSTERS, AND LIGHTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $53,894.83
WHEREAS, the police handguns currently used by the City of Petaluma Police
Department are more than ten years old; and,
WHEREAS, the police handguns currently in use are malfunctioning at an unacceptable
rate; and,
WHEREAS, in conformance with the City of Petaluma Charter and Chapter 4.04 of the
Petaluma Municipal Code and other applicable law, the City of Petaluma solicited bids. for the
purchase of police handguns; and,
WHEREAS, two bids for the purchase were received on January 29, 2008. and opened in
accordance with applicable law; and,,,
WHEREAS, the apparent low bid for the purchase was submitted by L.C. Action Police
Supply San Jose, CA, in the amount of $53,894.83, and L.C. Action Police Supply was
determined to be the lowest responsible bidder for this equipment purchase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and hereby declared to be findings of the City
Council of the City of Petaluma.
2. In accordance with the City of Petaluma Charter and Municipal Code and other
applicable law, the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby finds the bid of L.C.
Action Police Supply, San Jose, CA, in the amount of $53,894.83, t~o be the lowest
responsible bid -for purchase of the designated equipment.

3. The purchase contract is hereby awarded to L.C. Action Police Supply, 1088 N. First
Street, San Jose, CA in the amount of $53,984.83.
BE IT FIJRT'HER RESOLVED that those serviceable surplus handguns not retained by
the Police Department will be made available for sale to current Petaluma Police Officers; and
shall not be sold to members of the public. All other remaining surplus handguns shall be
destroyed pursuant to Police Department policy.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
REFERENCE: I hereby certify the foregoing Resolution was introduced and adopted by the Approved as to
Council of the City of Petaluma at a Regular meeting on the 25`~ day of February, for
2008, by the following vote:
