The project'involved placing rack slope protection/rip-rap alongthe interior dikes of pond numbers 5, 8 and 9 to prevent erosion-due'to wave 'action of high wastewater level in these ponds during winter storms. The final cost of. construction is $106;532.47. The amount budgeted for construction'from'the Water Pollution Control:Enterprise Funds is 1122,735.00. Staff is going to seek partial reimbursement in the estimated ;amount of $21,000.00 from FEMA for damages caused by the 1998 storm. Recommended:City Council action Adopt the resolution. Hargis, Director of Engineering 11 Fleming Nguyen,,.Associate Civil 12 13 REQUESTED'COUNCIL;ACTION: 14 15 Adopt resolution accepting::completion of the,1998 Oxidation Pond Dike Repair Project (Project 16 No. 9909). 17 18 RECOMMENDATION: 19 20 Accept the project,as completed. 21 22 BACKGROUND: 23 24 On May 18, 1998, the CityCouncil:awarded the:construction contract of Cal-Neva Construction 25 Services, Inc., 11365 Folsom Boulevard, Rancho "Cordova, 'CA 95742, for the above-mentioned 26 project, The`project involved`placing rock slope protection/rip-rap along 3260 feet of interior 27 dikes of pond numbers 5, 8 and 9 to prevent' erosion of'the dikes due to wave action of high 28 wastewater level in these ponds during winter storms'(see Exhibit-"A" for location map). This 29 year's repair completed the dike repair on all pondst exeePti pond numbers 1, 2 and 4. Staff 30 recommends that the City not conductany°repairs on the dikes,of-pond numbers 1, 2:and 4 until 31 the new treatment plant design is completed because.these ponds may serve different functions 32 with the new design. At that time a separate budget request will'.be made for the dike repair on 33 pond.number 1, 2 and 4. 34 35 The contractor completed the above-mentioned project;on„July 6; 1998. The final cost of 36 construction is $106,532.47. The amount budgeted for this 1998'construction is $122,735.00. 37 The project is funded b_y the.Water Pollution 'Control Enterprise Funds. Staff is going to seek 38 partial reimbursement in the estimated amount of $21,000.00 from the Federal Emergency 39 Management Agency (FE MA):for damages caused by the 1998 Storm.
