WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma is concerned about the health and well -being of its
residents and seeks to create a healthy, sustainable, and livable community; and
WHEREAS, last year, the sixth annual Community Resilience Challenge inspired
thousands of people across Sonoma County to complete 8,363 actions to save water, grow food,
conserve energy, reduce waste and build community; and
WHEREAS, Daily Acts is a key partner, providing programs and services that educate
residents, students, businesses, and community leaders about sustainable practices; and
WHEREAS, Petaluma residents and businesses can help achieve climate goals by
growing and eating fresh, local garden produce, greening their transportation, and creating
energy and water - efficient homes, businesses, schools, and communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, David Glass, Mayor of Petaluma,
along with the members of the City Council, do hereby declare the month of May, 2016 as the
Community Resilience Challenge month and encourage all residents to work together for a
healthier, more vibrant and viable future.
