HomeMy WebLinkAboutStaff Report 3.G 01/24/2011DATE TO: FROM: Monday, January 24, 2011 Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council through City Manager Larry Zimmer, Public Works Engineering Manager _11�� SUBJECT: Resolution Approving Application to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) 22 FY 11/12 Grant Funding, and to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Division of Aeronautics for a 2.5% Grant Match, and Authorizing City Manager to Accept Grant Funding from Both Agencies and Execute All Grant -Related Documents RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving application to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) 22 FY 11/I2 grant funding, and to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Division of Aeronautics for a 2.5% grant match, and authorizing City Manager to accept grant funding from both agencies and execute all grant -related documents. BACKGROUND Each year, the FAA makes available to general aviation airports; matching entitlement grant funding as part of their Airport' Improvement Program (AIP). In addition to the federal funding, Caltrans'Division of Aeronautics offers a matching 2.5% grant to the. AIP program. DISCUSSION At the January 6th. meeting, the Airport Commission recommended using the, FY 11/12 AIP 22 grant for design of -the. Aircraft Parking Apron Phase -1 Rehabilitation and the Southwest Taxiway Pavement Rehabilitation Design Project. FINANCIAL IMPACTS The pfgjected,.co"st:of the above project is $125,000, of which the FAA grant portion (95%) is $118,750, and the Caltrans.match is. $3,125 (2.5%). The remaining local grant match of $3,125 will. be 'included `in the Airport Capital Projects Budget FY 11/12.
