Summary Statement:
The City wishes to adjust pay rates for certain part-time positions to provide employees with a 3.3% cost of living

Resolution Amending the Pay Rates
For Part -Time Positions
1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City wishes to adjust pay rates for certain part-time positions to provide employees
with a 3.3% cost of living adjustment effective January 1, 2008; implement the State of
California minimum wage of $8.00, and implement a 3.3 % cost of living adjustment for
those City employees designated in positions at the Living Wage pay rate.
2. BACKGROUND:
Part-time positions which have been adjusted by 3.3% were last adjusted on January 1,
2007.
ALTERNATIVES:
Not adopt resolution.
4. FINANCIAL IMPACTS:
Estimated cost of the 3.3% pay rate adjustment is $16,583.
5. CONCLUSION:
Adoption of this Resolution enables the City to keep its program updated, current and in
compliance with State law and the City of Petaluma Living Wage Ordinance.
6. OUTCOMES OR PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS THAT WILL IDENTIFY SUCCESS OR
COMPLETION:
Implementation of Resolution.
7. RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the Resolution.

RESOLUTION AMENDING THE PAY RATES FOR
PART-TIME POSITIONS
WHEREAS, the City last adjusted the pay rates for certain part-time positions effective
January 1, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the State of California minimum wage is $8.00 per hour effective January
1, 2008, and the City is required to adjust its pay rates to comply with the state law; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide an annual cost of living adjustment in the
amount of 3.3% for City employees designated in positions at the Living Wage which will result
in a new pay rate of $13.64; and
WHEREAS, the schedule of pay rates for the part-time positions are amended to reflect
the adjustment listed above (as attached hereto and marked Attachment A);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby approve
the pay rates for the part-time positions as written in this Resolution; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the 3.3°% pay rate adjustment and minimum wage
adjustment shall be effective January 1, 2008.
