HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 99-177 N.C.S. 09/07/1999 -f Resolution No. 99-177 N.C.S. 1 of the City of Petaluma, California 2 3 4 5 6 7 APPROVING THE PLAN AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PETALUMA COMMUNITY 8 CENTER AND LUCCHESI SENIOR CENTER PARKING LOT EXPANSION PROJECT, 9 AWARDING THE CONTRACT TO GHILOTTI BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION, INC. AND 10 AUTHORIZING THE HIRING OF A TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR FOR THE 11 PROJECT. 12 13 14 WHEREAS, bids have heretofore been invited in accordance with law for the performance of 15 certain work for the City of Petaluma generally described as the Petaluma Community Center and the 16 Lucchesi Senior Center Parking. Lot Expansion (Project #9787 and 9929). 17 18 WHEREAS, bids were received, opened, and read in accordance with law and the Director of 19 Parks and Recreation has made his report thereon, a copy of which is attached hereto and by reference 20 incorporated herein; and 21 22 WHEREAS, the Council has thoroughly considered said report of the: Director of Parks and 23 Recreation and as a result has concluded that the bid of Ghilotti Brothers Construction, Inc., 525 Jacoby 24 Street, San Rafael, Calif. 94901, was the lowest bid received and; 25 26 WHEREAS, the Council has thoroughly considered said report of the Director of Parks and 27 Recreation and as a result has concluded that the bid. of Ghilotti Brothers Construction, Inc. on the basis of 28 the solicitation for performance in accordance with the aforesaid solicitation and bid submitted, be .and the 29 same is hereby approved and accepted; and 30 31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Petaluma, all 32 prerequisite findings and determinations having been made in accordance with law, that the bid of said 33 Ghilotti Brothers Construction, Inc., computed to total $246,463.75 on the basis of the solicitation and bid 34 submitted, be and the same is hereby approved and accepted; and 3S 36 IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that; the City Council approves a contingency fund equal to 37 $12,323 (5 percent of the contract amount) for administrative change orders; and, 38 39 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma authorizes up to 40 $12,323 for hiring a temporary construction inspector for the project; and 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 RES. Page 1 of 2 r 1 2 IT IS FURTIIER RES®LVEI), that the City of Petaluma enter into a contract with the said 3 successful bidder for performance as herein indicated for the amount of said bid and for performance in 4 accordance with plans and specifications heretofore prepared, approved and on file in the office of the 5 Director of Parks and Recreation, and the City Manager be and is hereby authorized and directed to 6 execute such contract, and the City Director of Finance is hereby authorized to pay all proper claims for 7 performance of said contract out of Account Number 209-400-9787 and 209-400-9929. 8 9 10 11 JC/sslpkglodc:jim 12 13 14 15 16 Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
