HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 08/06/2007eitp of Petaluma AUGUST 5-11, 2007 PETALUMA HEALTH CENTER WEEK WHEREAS, Health Centers are nonprofit, community -owned and operated health providers serving uninsured and medically underserved people across the country who need quality health care; and WHEREAS, Health Centers have made great strides in the health care system by fostering prevention, providing outreach, patient education, translation, and by maintaining high standards of accountability, demonstrating cost effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of care, and empowering communities to address unmet health needs, reduce health disparities, and reduce preventable deaths, costly disabilities, and communicable diseases; and WHEREAS, there is a continuing need to support Health Centers as part of the enduring commitment to the provision of quality primary health care by promoting 100% access and zero health disparities with the goal to provide a wide range of health care for the needs of all people; and WHEREAS, Petaluma Health Center serves over 20,000 patients with 60,000 Center visits per year, was established in 1994 to provide for low income people with approximately 42% of patients MediCal eligible, 32% uninsured, 8% MediCare enrollees, and 18% with private insurance coverage. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Pamela Torliatt, Mayor of Petaluma, along with the members of the Petaluma City Council, do hereby recognize the valued contributions of the Petaluma Health Center and proudly proclaim the Week of August 5-11, 2007 as "Petaluma Health Center Week" in Petaluma, and urge citizens' to recognize the important contributions of Health Centers in safeguarding health and improving the quality of life for all peeQpIG-ire City. 0-(,l-, iuo 64&e 65if • &t�
