HomeMy WebLinkAboutPCDC Resolution 2004-10 06/07/2004RES®LUTI®IV 2004-10 PETALUMA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE PETALUMA LEAKAGE 8~ SUSTAINABLE RETAIL STRATEGY STUDY WHEREAS, in July 2003, the Petaluma Community Development Commission (PCDC) entered into an agreement with Thomas Consultants to perform an analysis of retail leakage in Petaluma; and, WHEREAS, the Commission also expressed its desire for a strategy to develop sustainable retail uses; and, WHEREAS, the Study identifies the opportunity for 1.14 million square feet of additional retail space in Petaluma; and, WHEREAS, this additional space could generate an estimated $2.5 million in additional sales taxes annually; and, WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma and the Petaluma Valley Chamber of Commerce have collaborated and cooperated on the Study for the benefit of the entire community; and, WHEREAS, the Study has already been useful in the expansion of needed retail development in Petaluma. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Petaluma Community Development Commission hereby accepts "The Leakage 8~ Sustainable Retail Strategy Study."
