RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION TO THE FEDERAL AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION FOR THE AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AIP-27 FY
17/18 GRANT FUNDING TO THE RUNWAY EDGE LIGHTING AND AIRFIELD
GUIDANCE SIGNAGE AND TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION CALTRANS DIVISION OF AERONAUTICS FOR A 5% GRANT
MATCH, AND AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDING
FROM BOTH AGENCIES AND EXECUTE ALL GRANT RELATED DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma and the Federal Aviation Administration are parties to
Federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant 3-06-0186-27 for the Runway Electrical
Project and Airfield Guidance Signage; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation, pursuant to the Public
Utilities Code section 21683. 1, provides grants of 5% of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
grants to airports; and
WHEREAS, replacing the current Runway Edge lighting with LED lighting would
decrease the cost of operation, increase bulb life, and increase safety; and
WHEREAS, replacing the Airfield Guidance would satisfy the Federal Aviation
Administration Airport Lighting Directive AC 150/5340-18; and
WHEREAS, at its November 3, 2016 meeting, the Petaluma Airport Commission
recommended using this year's AIP 27 grant funding for Runway Electrical Project and Airfield
Guidance Signage; and
WHEREAS, the projected cost of the project is $432,140 of which the FAA grant
portion (90%) is $388,926 and the Cal Trans match (5%) is $19,446.30; and
WHEREAS, the remaining local match of $23,767.70 will be identified in the Airport
CIP budget for FY 17/18; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration and the California Department of
Transportation requires the Petaluma City Council to adopt a resolution authorizing the
submission of an application for an FAA AIP Grant and an AIP Matching grant from the
California Department of Transportation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Petaluma hereby
1. Authorizes filing an application for a state AIP Matching grant and an FAA AIP 27 Grant
for this project; and
3. Authorizes the City Manager to accept grant funding from both agencies and execute all
grant related documents.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
