SUBJECT: Resolution Appointing Individuals to City and City -Related Boards and
Committees
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution Appointing Individuals to
City and City -Related Boards and Committees.
At the July 3, 2017 Regular City Council/PCDSA Meeting, the City Council made a number of
appointments to City Boards, Commissions, and Committees, Not all vacancies were filled
however, In some cases there were fewer applicants than there were openings, or no applicants at
all. Openings remain on the Building Board of Appeals, Technology Advisory Committee and
,the Marin/Sonoma Mosquito & Vector Control District Board of Trustees.
Press releases were sent to the Petaluma Argus -Courier and Press Democrat regarding the
upcoming appointments, The attached "We're Recruiting" flyer was distributed at City Hall, the
Petaluma Community Center, and the Petaluma Library. Information was posted to the City's
website and Facebook page, and on NextDoor. Announcements were sent out on the City's
Email Listserve,
The deadline for new applications was Monday, July 24, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. Applications
submitted by that date have been reviewed for completeness and consistency with applicable
eligibility requirements, and are attached to this report for the City Council's review and
consideration.
Costs are limited to staff time to prepare materials for the recruiting of volunteers, and are
contained within the operating budget,

Volunteer applications are being sought to fill the following additional
vacancies on City and City -Related Boards and Committees:
One vacancy serve a term at the pleasure of Council. The Building Board of Appeals hears
and decides appeals of decisions of the Chief Building Official relative to application/
interpretation of the Uniform Building Code, etc., adopted by the City. Meets at the
pleasure of Council.
One vacancy for a two-year term expiring June 30, 2019. The Technology Advisory
Committee assists the City in making efficient, economical, and productive use of
technology. Meets the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council
Chambers, City Hall.
One vacancy for a partial two-year term expiring December 31, 2018. MSMVCD protects
the health and welfare of the communities it serves from mosquitoes and vector-borne
diseases by utilizing cost-effective, environmentally responsible integrated vector
management practices. Board members are appointed by cities or a county at large.
Meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at MSMVCD Headquarters, 595
Helman Lane, Cotati.
Applications and full descriptions of the volunteer positions are available at the City Clerk's
Office, City Hall, 11 English Street, Petaluma, CA 94952, by calling the City Clerk's Office or
by visiting the sites below. Applications will be accepted by the City Clerk's Office until
