The Planning Committee focuses on many of the areas that are near and dear to my heart including Green Building, Transit Oriented Development, and Priority Development Areas. As a Santa Rosa City Councilmember, I [mow how hard it is to make those planning choices that will keep us moving forward toward a more sustainable future. But I firmly believe that as we look at the issues facing our region —transportation, climate change, water, affordable housing, air quality —we need to plan and work together to address them. My record on the Council shows that I am committed to addressing these issues in a collaborative way with the entire community and would work the same way with the region as a representative of Sonoma County. My understanding is the group meets every two months in Oakland. I am self employed so have the flexibility with my schedule to regularly attend the meetings. I will be happy to answer any questions that you might have, and respectfully request consideration of the appointment to the ABAG Regional Planning Committee. Sincerely, VERONICA IACOBI Cotmcilmember Santa Rosa City Council RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPOINTMENT TO THE MAYORS' & COUNCILMEMBERS' ASSOCIATION FOR THE ASSOCIATION OF BAY AREA GOVERNMENTS (ABAG) REGIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEE WHEREAS, due to the recent resignation of Jake Mackenzie of Rohnert Park, a vacancy now exists on the Association of Bay Area Government's Regional Planning Committee; and WHEREAS, the ABAG Regional Planning Committee vacancy, whose term expires September 2009, will be considered by the Board of Directors of the Mayors' & Councilmembers' Association at their October 16, 2008 meeting; and WHEREAS, letters of interest from Councilmembers within Sonoma County have been received and considered by the Petaluma City Council.
