EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Annual Fourth of July Fireworks display will be held in conjunction with the
"Sesquifest" activities and is scheduled for Friday, July 4, 2008. The event will be held at
the Sonoma Marin Fairgrounds and is funded from community donations and anticipated

2. BACKGROUND:
July 4`h Fireworks is an annual community event. The 2008 program will be combined
with Petaluma's 1501h Anniversary, and associated yearlong celebration and festivities.
Over the course of the last year, the Sesquicentennial subcommittee has been planning
this event. The committee is comprised of community volunteers, including
representation from businesses, non -profits, artists, Visitors Center, Downtown
Association, Chamber of Commerce, Parks and Recreation Department, and many others.
An RFP, soliciting pyrotechnic services was dlikributed in February. The City received
two responsive proposals. The proposals were evaluated according the criteria identified
in the RFP, and the recommendation of Zambelli Fireworks Internationale is a result of
that review.
3. ALTERNATIVES:
The award of contract should be completed since funding for the event is provided by
community sponsors.
4. FINANCIAL IMPACTS:
It is anticipated that sponsorship and event revenue will cover costs associated with the
program. There is not expected to be any impact on the General Fund.
CONCLUSION:
The significance of Independence Day and Petaluma's Sesquicentennial are cause for
celebration. The event planned should provide a fitting tribute and serve to celebrate the
