Thank you, Shelley Campbell I have also put a copy of the text from the letter down below. To: The City of Petaluma January 26th 2009 Re: The essence of what I hope to read tonight, and wondering what the story poles now represent if anything. To the Members of the City Council, City Representatives, the representatives of Pinnacle Homes: First, according to city code the vesting tentative map cannot have been approved before the ordinance was approved. The ordinance has not been approved. Here are my concerns regarding the council making any kind of decisions on this property without being on the property with full story poles in place (minus the "old" story poles for the houses backing up to Grevillia). One of my neighbors asked some fellow neighbors to sign a petition regarding Pinnacle's plans for the old Hash property. A few asked why there was such concern and were advised to go take a look at the property. Some went and looked and were amazed at what they could only imagine the impact would be. I would hope that every council member, as well as every person present representing Pinnacle Homes, has gone out to this property. It's hard to get a full understanding of the proposal without seeing it for yourself. Looking down on a flat map does nothing to convey how this project would completely block any view as one comes into or out of this gateway the vies of the hill/small mountain blocked is the second highest southwesterly peak that can be seen from the 101 freeway coming south. Then: what has happened to the correct and current story poles being in place? I mean story poles that show where the eleven homes are planned and that show the height of at least the four corners of each structure and the highest point along the roofline. This is the bare minimum. As it is now, I do believe that there are no story poles in place for some of the homes, including the one at the highest point on the ridgelinle. I suggest that even more poles be added showing the perimeter of the houses; a simple strip of "caution" tape could be placed around the perimeter. Every council member needs to see this property before making a decision. A field trip with open discussion could ensue. Keep in mind, even with these measures, one has to use his/her imagination to understand the full impact of the bulk of the homes complete with rooflines in place. I believe after seeing the story poles, the city would realize its error in initially thinking that Pinnacle's proposal would be appropriate for the city at this particular location. You can look back at Richard Brawn's presentation to the Planning Commission if you would like to know the full impact on I St. as regards loss of light. 1 The amount of light on I St. already drops dramatically when the sun begins to set. With these homes in place, this darkness would begin shortly after noon. This ups the number of hours in which it is extra hazardous to turn left from Grevillia onto I St. Thank you for taking these concerns into account. Shelley A. Switzer Campbell F
