PETALUMA CObiNIUNtTFACCESSMONTH —MARCH2O09
WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma believes community participation is the
cornerstone of a healthy community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma believes equal and inexpensive access to
community resources is imperative for the advancement of all citizens; and
WHEREAS, the trend toward the consolidation of media ownership has hindered
public awareness by excluding or marginalizing minority and dissenting viewpoints; and
WHEREAS. City government and other institutions benefit from open. free and
transparent coverage of meetings, events, and issues; and
WHEREAS. Petaluma Community Access provides the citizens of Petaluma with
access to training, video equipment, and free airtime on local cable and internet television;
and
WHEREAS, Petaluma Community Access encourages citizens to express
themselves, advocate for issues of importance, and share valuable information and creative
visual works.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED THAT 1, Pamela Torliatt, Mayor of
Petaluma, along with the members of the Petaluma City Council, do hereby designate the
month of March 2009 as Petaluma Comnwnity Access Month in Petaluma, and encourage
citizens to explore PCA programming, become a content producer, or simply learn more
about Petaluma Community Access by visiting its new office at 205 Keller Street, Suite
103, Petaluma, California.
