cities in Sonoma County and the county of Sonoma have committed to greenhouse gas
reduction targets for their internal operations and communities. Reducing reliance on
fossil fuels is a key component to meeting the reduction targets. This summit will
provide additional information on the economic implications of our reliance on fossil
fuels along with solutions that other communities are pursuing to diversify their energy
portfolio and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The summit will also provide an
opportunity for local officials to:
• Imagine the challenges and opportunities that rising energy costs may bring to their
local government and communities.
• Share ideas and concerns with other policy makers.
• Discuss public policy options that support their community's long-term economic
viability.
