Appointing Individuals to City Boards, Commissions and Committees
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the'City Council adopt the attached,resolution appointing individuals to
City Boards, Commissions, and Committees.
BACKGROUND
Vacancies exist on City Boards, Commissions, and Committees, both for terms that expired June
30, 2010 and remain unfilled, and unexpired terms created by resignations.
DISCUSSION
Notices of vacancies were published in the Petaluma Argus- Courier on February 17 and
February 24, 2011 and on the City's Web Site. The attached. "Get Involved" flyer was distributed
at City Hall, the Petaluma Community Center the Petaluma Library, .and the Petaluma Campus
of Santa Rosa Junior College. Petaluma Community Access (PCA) ran an announcement of the
openings as well. The deadline for applications was Monday, February 28, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.
In accordance with the selectionprocess included in resolution 20.1.0 - 020 N.C.S., a sub-
committee of the Youth Coin nission.reviews applications and interviews applicants and
recommends appointments to, the Council. Appointments were made by Council on
September 20, 201'0, but some vacancies remained. The Youth Commission has
recommended the appointment .of one additional youth member.

Approximately $200.00 for advertising in the Argus - 'Courier, paid out of City Clerk/
Administrative /Advertising, (11.10 - 1,1320= 573;60).

Thursday, February 17 and Thursday, February 24, 2011., Petaluma, California - The City of Petaluma will be
accepting applications 'from persons interested in serving on City Boards, Commissions, and Committees. A
minimum of one year residency within th City limits is required, with limited exceptions. Applications are

One vacancy to complete a three -year term expiring June .30; 2011. The Committee meets the first
Wednesday of February; April, June, August, October, and December at 7:00 p.m. at the Petaluma Animal
Shelter, 800 Hopper Street, Petaluma.
Senior Advisory Committee: one vacancy
One vacancy to complete a two -year term .expiring June 30, 201:2 The Committee meets the second
Wednesday of every other month at 10:00 a.m. at the Senior Center, 21.1 Novak Drive; Petaluma.
® Sonoma County Library Commission:. one vacancy
One vacancy for a four -year term expiring February 28, 2015, The Commission meets the l st Wednesday of
