Council agreed unanimously to pursue placing tax measure increase(s) on the
June 2018 ballot to increase the City's Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) rate from
10% to 12%, and to increase the Documentary Transfer Tax /Real Property Transfer
Tax (RPTT) rate by an amount somewhere between $1.00 and $2.00 per every
$1,000.00 of valuation. Staff was directed to conduct voter polling to determine
the amount likely to be passed, and whether the two taxes should be bundled as
one measure or be presented separately.
