Violations
Larry Higgins to City Manager Robert Meyer
recommending that the Council consider amending
Section 11.56.170 of the Petaluma Municipal
Code to provide for a $2 penalty fee instead
of the present $1 fee, submitted and filed.
In his report the Chief outlined the results
of a survey conducted of the fines imposed in
neighboring cities of overtime parking fines,
second notice, and warrant amounts, which
indicates that Petaluma's meter violation is
grossly low.
_
Police Chief Higgins appeared before the
Council requesting a decision on the matter
because of the need to order a.year's supply
of envelopes. He added that an envelope is
issued with each penalty and the amount of
the penalty is printed on the envelope.
In discussing the fines, Chief Higgins pointed
out that the second notice and warrant amounts
