EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City wishes to adjust pay rates for certain part-time positions to provide employees with a 3% pay rate adjustment effective January 1, 2007; implement the State of California minimum wage of $7.50 per hour, and document the living wage pay rate already in effect. 2. BACKGROUND: The City last adjusted the pay rates for certain part-time positions effective August 30, 2004 and wishes to beep current its Compensation Plan and adjust pay rates by 3%. The State of California minimum wage is $7.50 per hour effective January 1, 2007 and the City is required to adjust its pay rates to comply with the state law. The City adopted a living wage requirement which resulted in a pay rate adjustment to $13.20 per hour effective December 20, 2006 for the positions of Building Attendant I and II, Tiny Tots Teacher, Tiny Tots Teacher I, and Ramp Attendant. 3. ALTERNATIVES: Not adopt resolution. 4. FINANCIAL IMPACTS: Estimated cost of $10,375 for the period January 1, 2007 through June 30, 2007 to implement the 3% pay rate adjustment and the state minimum wage adjustment. CONCLUSION: Adoption of this resolution enables the City to keep its program updated, current and in compliance with state law. 6. OUTCOMES OR PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS THAT WILL IDENTIFY SUCCESS OR COMPLETION: Implementation of Resolution. 7. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. Resolution No. 2007 -XX N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION AMENDING THE PAY RATES FOR PART-TIME POSITIONS WHEREAS, the City last adjusted the pay rates for certain part-time positions effective August 30, 2004; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to keep current its Compensation Plan and adjust pay rate by 3%; and WHEREAS, the State of California minimum wage is $7.50 per hour effective January 1, 2007 and the City is required to adjust its pay rates to comply with the state law; and WHEREAS, the City adopted Ordinance No. 2256 N.C.S., An Ordinance of the City of Petaluma Adding Chapter 2.70 to the Municipal Code of the City of Petaluma, Establishing A Living Wage Requirement For Specified City Funded Contracts and City Employees which resulted in a pay rate adjustment to $13.20 per hour effective December 20, 2006 for specified positions; and WHEREAS, the pay rates for the part-time positions are amended to reflect the adjustments listed above (as attached hereto and marked Attachment A); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby approve the pay rates for the part-time positions as written in this Resolution; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the 3% pay rate adjustment and minimum wage adjustment shall be effective January 1, 2007.
