HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 05/11/1970MINUTES OF MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA May 11, 1970 Council Meeting Special meeti'rig of the Council of the City of Petaluma was called to order by Mayor Putnam at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. Attendance Present: Councilmen Brainerd, Brunner, Cavanagh, Jr:, Joerger, Matteis and Mayor Putnam. Absent: Councilman Battaglia. Notice of Notice of the special meeting called for the Call May 11, 1970; Certificate of the City Clerk of delivery of said notice; and, the consent „of the members present of the hold - ing,of said meeting., and - filed. Purpose of The meeting was .called to consider and the Meeting formally act on the Petaluma office of the Human Resources Development, the DeCarli property in connection with the Magnolia Avenue - Petaluma Boulevard Intersection Project, and.the award of contract on said pro- ject. (Presentation of the Petaluma River Project'1970 and Study Session were deleted.) Petaluma Office - Mayer Putnam reported that the City,,and Department of Chamber of Commerce have worked- together Human Resources in registering an objection to the recom- Development mended closing of the.subj•ect office, and Res. #5467 N.C.S. that various, labor.organizations and groups. have also participated in the protest. In order to formalize the objection, Resolu- tion No. 546.7 N.C.S., urging the retention of the Petaluma'o.ffice of Department of Human Resources Development, was introduced by Councilman Brainerd, seconded by Council- man Mattei, and adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. The City Clerk was re- quested to forward a copy-- as.directed in the resolution and to those organizations who.sent the City a copy of their letter filing a protest. Director of Public Works David Young reported the following four bids were received at the bid opening-May 6, 1970: Name Amount Don Dowd Company $160,210.25 Ghilotti Brothers 15 :4,464.75 McGuire & Hester 17 1,171.00 Rapp Construction Co. 154,747. Mr. Young recommended that the low bid.b.e . accepted when award of the contract is con- sidered. Petaluma River Presentation of the subject report was Report 1970 deleted.
