Invocation The invocation was given by the Reverend. Albert Foster,.First United Methodist. Church. Approval of The minutes of April 5, 1971, and April. Minutes 12, 1971, were approved as recorded. Weed Abatement This being the time set for hearing-of Res. 15722'N.C.S. protests on weed abatement,,the Mayor. S opened the public hearing. The Deputy I� City Clerk announced -that no written protests were received. No protests were heard from the audience. Fire Chief,Roscoe�Benton,briefly explained a change in --the, procedure of-the weed. abatement program, whereby the Department.is sending out letters • re - minding citizens of the abatement procedures;-whereupon, Resolution No.-5722 N.C.-S ordering the abatement of nuisances.consisting of weeds grow— ing and rubbish, refuse arid exist - ing.upon the streets, sidewalks, park- ways, and parcels of in the City of and ordering the -Fire Chief to� remove said weeds, refuse, rubbish and dirt, was introduced by- Councilman'-:Brunner, seconded by Coun- cilman Cavanagh,'Jr:, and adopted by 6 affirmative votes, l absentee.
