HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 05/13/1968MINUTES OF MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL-, P.ETALUMA, CALIFORNIA May 13, 1968, Council Meeting Adjourned of Petalui Putnam at Attendance Present: Absent: meeting of: the Council of the City na called to order by Mayor Helen the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. Councilmen Battaglia, Brainerd, Cavanagh, Jr., Colin, Joerger, Lipman and Mayor Putnam. None. ABAG Mayor. Putnam,reported on the action taken at the.Association of Bay Area Government's ad,journed.meeting on Friday, May 10, 1968, at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley. She recalled that several months ago she was appointed to.-serve on an Advisory Committee of ABAG's Finance Subcommittee and that said Advisory Committee met and submitted a re- port to ABAG's membership at the aforementioned adjourned meeting. Said report was read by the Mayor for Council information. She in- formed the Council that even though the City of Petaluma is withdrawing its membership from ABAG on June ; ; 30, 1968, she will con - tinue to function as member of the Advisory Committee until the City's terminationf.­of its membership. Armed Forces Day City Manager Robert Meyer requested the Council members who plan to attend Armed Forces Day at Two Rock Ranch Station on Saturday, May 18, 1968, to contact his secretary for R.S.V.P, to the invitation. Budget Study It was agreed that the Council would con- tinue study of the budget on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Community Achieve- City Manager Robert Meyer reminded the Council ment Awards of the Annual Community Achievement Awards Program to be held on Wednesday, May 15, 1968, at 7:00 p.m., in the Petaluma Junior High School multi -use room. E. Washington Re.s.er- City Manager Robert Meyer reported that the voir and Mt. View Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved Reservoir the subject annexations to the City of Annexations Petaluma at its meeting today. Boat Launching Ordinance #896 N.C.S. authorizing the purchase Ramp Facility of land (in connection with the Boat Launching Ord'. #896 NCS Ramp Facility) from the County of Sonoma, was introduced by Councilman Colin, seconded by Councilman Lipman, and adopted by 7 af- firmative votes. Said ordinance was declared an emergency and thereby becomes effective upon its adoption. 104 East Park Subd. #4 Resolution #4987 N.C.S. authorizing execution Res. #4987 NCS of quit claim deed to easement to Wesley Bailey Land Company (East Park Subdivision #4), was introduced by Councilman Lipman, seconded by Councilman Colin, and adopted by 7 affirmative votes. 1.2 May 13, 1968 Petaluma River Legislation regarding the subject matter was' Maintenance Dredging deferred until.next Monday's meeting because of delayed negotiations with one of the property owners. Spectator Area— Following brief consideration of the Parks and Petaluma Municipal Recreation Commission recommendation to'relo- Swim Center sate the spectator area at the Petaluma Municipal Swim Center as explained by Chairman Boccaleoni at the last Council meeting, a motion was made by Councilman Joerger, and seconded by Council - man Battaglia, approving- recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Commission. Motion carried unanimously. City Manager Robert Meyer requested the record to show that he believes the fence in front of the spectator area should be six feet high instead of four. feet as recommended because of the possibility of a climbing problem. Budget Study The 'following sections of the 1968 -69 Pre- liminary'Budget were reviewed by the Council with staff members present.: City Clerk, Finance, City Attorney, City Manager, Council and Re- tirement- Insurance -and other Departmental Expenses Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Council, the. meeting was adjourned at 9:25 o'clock p.m. to an executive session.
