HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 01/11/1969MINUTES OF MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA January 11, 1969 Council Meeting Adjourned meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order by Mayor Putnam at the hour of 9:00 o'clock a.m. Attendance Present: Councilmen Battaglia4':Cava'n,_6g =b, Jr. Colin, Joerger, Lipman and "Mayor Putnam. - Ab-sent': Councilman Brainerd. Executive Session The Council retired to an executive session at 9:05 o'clock a.m. to consider salaries of four non - classified employees. Councilman Brainerd - arrived during the Executive Session. The meeting -was: resumed at 10 :00 o'clock a.m. ae Salary Resolution #51.48 N.C.S. establishing the salary City Clerk of the Clerk, was introduced by Councilman Res. #5148 NCS Joerger, seconded by Councilman Brainerd, and adopted by'6 affirmative and 1 negative votes. Councilman Lipman voted "no" and stated that he favored_a plan to start review of salaries in January for consideration of. changes to become effective on July 1st. He added that the same. reason:w.ill apply to his "no vote on the three remaining resolutions on salaries. Salary Res=olution #;5,149 N.C.S. establishing the salary City Engineer of the City Engineer, was introduced by Councilman Res. #5149 NCS Colin, seconded by Councilman Brainerd,. and adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Battaglia, Brainerd, Cavanagh, Jr., Colin and Mayor Putnam. Noes Councilmen Joerger and Lipman. Councilman Joerger stated that in making a comparison, the salary of the City Engineer is higher than in several cities in the area. * Salary - Resolution #5150 N.C.S. establishing the salary City Manager of the.City Manager, was introduced by Council - Res. #5150 NCS man Colin, seconded by Councilman Battaglia, and adopted by.the following vote: Ayes: Coun- cilmen`Battaglia, Brainerd, Cavanagh, Jr., Colin and Mayor Putnam. Noes: Councilmen Joerger and Lipman. Councilman Joerger again stated that in making a comparison, the salary of the City Manager is higher than in several cities in the area. Salary - Resolution #5151 N.C.S. the salary City Attorney of the City Attorney, was introduced by Council- Res. #5151 NCS man Cavanagh, Jr., seconded by Councilman Brainerd, and adopted by 6 affirmative and 1 negative votes. Councilman Lipman voted "no ". Policy Regarding FG1lowing,'. .discussion, the City Attorney Salary Review was directed to prepare legislation for the next Council meeting to establish a policy that review of salaries will start in January for consideration of adoption of changes on July lst. C -. -S . ; by adding thereto Section 6 -4015 to ,permit additions; to the list of conditional uses i.n commercial districts, was introduced by Councilman Cavanagh,, Jr., seconded by Councilman.
