estimate with the.Council. In discussing the
Res. #515.3 NCS
time schedule, he pointed out that the bid
opening date is February 1.8, 1969, but before
Council award of the contract, U. S.. Coast Guard .
approval of the project must be received,, which
;s expected during the week of the bid opening.
He added that'the deadline date for protests
and comments to be sent to the Coast Guard is
January 31, 1969, and felt there would be ample
time to hear from.the U. S. Coast Guard as the
specifications also provide a 30- day.period from
the time of opening the bids to awarding the
contract'.
Councilman Cavanagh, Jr., questioned the
procedure of calling-for bids on the project
without having the U. S. Coast Guard approval
on file. He also inquired as to the acquisition
status of the parcel located on the northeasterly
corner of Petaluma Blvd. North and Washington
Street,.a portion of which will be needed for
the Project Street Widening. The City Attorney
explained that negotiations have not been com-
pleted with the owner, Mr. John "King, as a larger
portion of the parcel than originally planned is
now required, leaving a lot with a small
frontage, and that possibly it would be ad-
visable to acquire the entire parcel. Council=
man Cavanagh, Jr., also inquired as to the
status of the'State Lands Commission permit
for the construction of the bridge across the
Petaluma River at Washington Street. Mr. Young
stated that said permit was received and is on
file with the City Clerk.
