Council Meeting Adjourned .meeting . o.f..the Council of the City
of Petaluma was called to order by Mayor
•Putnam at the hour 4 :30 p'clock p.m.
Attendance Present: Councilmen Battaglia, Brainerd,
Cavanagh, Jr., Colin, Joerger,
Li;pman,and Mayor Putnam.
Absent None.

Discussion of the projects for the bond issue
continued.. Mr. Floyd Wynne, President of the
Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, appeared
before the Council recommending a separate
pedestrian•overcrossing structure be considered
over the=Freeway instead of the $60,000 proposed
for•the_ sidewalk addition on the existing East
Washington pedestrian overcrossing structure.
Councilman Colin .agreed and suggested that the
overcrossing'_proposal be increased from $60,000
to $100,000.,. •Counc..lman Colin then presented
the following`.proposal for consideration in its
entirety.-requesting that segregations be made
later:

A poll.of ,the Council of Councilman Colin's
proposal. resulted in the following vote:
Ayesi: Councilmen Brainerd, Cavanagh, Jr.,
Colin and Joerger.

June Ballot Reasons for the "No" votes were then qualified. -
Bond Issue for Councilman "Batt'aglia. stated that he favored; the "

traffic problem biit't, causes congestion on D
Street; and, $60,0'00 for the pedestrian sidewalk
on the Washington Str-ee't overcross_,ing as outlined
by the City Engineer.
Councilman Lipman agreed with Councilman Battaglia
and added that he felt the proposal does not
provide a proper-street pattern.
Mayor• Putnam. stated 'that her "No" vote was in
the .interest o'f the development of the streets
in their entirety. i,f it can possibly be accomplished
tha -t way, adding that she has a very strong . feeling
for developing a total.package where the streets
are concerned.
Councilman Battaglia then made the following

A poll-of-the Council resulted in the following
vote-
Ayes: Councilmen Battaglia, Brainerd, Lipman
and Mayor Putnam -
Noes: Councilmen Cavanagh,Jr., Colin and
joerger.
After discussing several proposals which were
not polled, Councilman Battaglia then made.the
following propos +a3_ for four separate measures
as follows:
1. Petaluma Blvd. North relocation
or 'widening, and Washington Street -
Keokuk to Kentucky with traffic
signals at Keller and "Liberty $1,500,000

*A poll of Councilman Battaglia's proposal
resulted in the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Battaglia, Brainerd, Colin,
Joerger and Mayor Putnam.

In answer to Mayor Putnam regarding the exclusion
of South Mcbowell*Blvd. in the bond issue, City
Engineer David Young indicated that improvement
of the street is possible with an overlay. The
City Attorney' was directed to proceed with the
necessary, legislation for Council consideration.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before
the Council the meeting was adjourned at 6:00
o'clock p.m.
