PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA May 5 1969 Council Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma was called to order by Mayor Putnam at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. Attendance Present: Councilmen Brainerd, Colin, Joerger, Lipman and Mayor Putnam. Absent: Councilmen Battaglia and Cavanagh, Jr. The invocation was given by Reverend Robert Edwards, Evangelical Free Church. Councilman Cavanagh, Jr. entered the meeting at, 7:35 o'clock p.m. q This being the time set for hearing of protests on Abandonment of "A ", "C ", and Fourth Streets - Newtown, the City Clerk announced that no writtei protests had been received. Director of Public Works David Young showed a map of the area, and as no oral protests were heard, the public heari: was closed. Resolution #5208 N.C.S. ordering the vacation and abandonment and closing to public use that certain easement for street purposes in the City of Petaluma (A, C and Fourt. Streets in Newtown), was introduced by Councilma: Joerger, seconded by Councilman Brainerd, and adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Notice to bidders on the subject project waVat published. Director of Works David Young reported that one bid in the amount of $3,580.0'0 was received from Argonaut Constructors at the bid opening-on May 2,'1969, for, the subject project which was recommended for acceptance, whereupon Resolution #5209 N.C.S. awarding contract as recommended for the subject project was introduced by Councilman Lipman, seconded by Councilman Brainerd, and adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. ®�9 Letter, dated I April 18, 1969, from Lesly H. Meyer, Superintendent Petaluma Elementary and H igh School Districts, and Dean D. Magowan, District Superintendent, Old Adobe School District, requesting that the two�Bcards and the City Council work together for the develop- ment of the total Petaluma community in the area of City parks and playgrounds, green belt areas and educational parks, read and filed. The Council indicated its desire to meet with the two Boards to discuss these matters. When responding, the City Clerk was asked to convey the Council's approval of the three- agency session and to arrive at an agreeable, mutual time through personal contact. _ Letter, dated April 29, 19`69, from Lesly H. .Meyer, Superintendent of Schools, that the Board of Education.has called for an Advisory Committee to make-•a study of selecting tenta- tive -sites for a junior and senior high school and requesting appointment of a citizen by the Council to serve on this committee, read and filed Mayor Putnam asked Council members to be - prepared to.make an appointment at the Council meeting -on May -12, 1969.
