HomeMy WebLinkAboutStaff Report 4.A 12/18/2017Agenda Item #4.A Ys5$ DATE: December 18, 2017 TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Ci y Council FROM: John C. Brown, City Manager SUBJECT: Resolution Approving City Council Liaison Appointments RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution Approving City Council Liaison Appointments. BACKGROUND The process for Council appointments is outlined in the City Council's Rules, Policies & Procedures. Per Section VILG., the Mayor notifies the Councilmembers and /or Councilmembers -elect by December 1St of each year of all upcoming openings for Council representation on City, county, regional and other outside commissions. By the end of December, they in turn advise the Mayor of those positions they would be interested in serving on for the upcoming calendar year. Although the Rules specify that the appointments will be made at the second regular Council meeting in January, these appointments have typically been made at the first meeting in January so that those boards and commissions requiring representation will have a member of Council available to attend their January meetings. For 2017, however, the Mayor has asked that appointments be scheduled for the December 181h Council meeting. Councilmembers have until December 10h to provide the Mayor with their choices of Committees. The Mayor's recommendations will be provided at the December 18th meeting for the Council's consideration and confirmation. FINANCIAL IMPACTS None.
