RECOMMENDATION: The Parks and Recreation Department recommends that the City Council accept the project as completed per plans and specifications. BACKGROUND: The City Council at their meeting of February 18, 1997 awarded the contract to construct the Petaluma Skate Park to the firm of Sandy's Construction of Windsor. The bid price for construction of the Skate Park was $94,595. During construction one change order totaling $8,403.36 (8.8 %) was authorized. The authorized change order involved sculpting transition zones at the bottom of side slopes and the two bowls at the request of skaters who have assisted with the design of the Skate Park. The firm Sandy's Construction worked well with the myriad of skaters who were following the project from its start, and was quite flexible when working with the adjacent Park and Ride project. ALTERNATIVES: Not accept the project. This alternative is not recommended since the contractor performed their responsibilities as required by the project plans and specifications. CONSEQUENCES OF NOT ACTING: The City Clerk cannot file a Notice of Completion. ACTION FOLLOWING AUTHORIZATION: The City Clerk will file a Notice of Completion with the County of Sonoma.
