Council_Meeting Regular meeting of the Council of the City
of:" Petaluma _was' called to order by Mayor
Putnam at the hour of' 7:30 o' clock p.m.
Approval.of Minutes The minutes of July 3, 1969 and July 7, 1969,
were approved as recorded.
Launching Facility - N.otice'to bidders on the subject project was
Petaluma River duly published. Summary of bids received at q�
the bid opening on July- 16, 1969, submitted
and filed. Director of Public Works David
Young reported that the following bids were

but that the bids were very competitive. He
added that 'a meeting will be held- tomorrow
with the State designer to review the bids
for possible reductions and that after ap-
proval by the State, a recommendation on the
award is expected -to be made at the next Coun-
cil meeting.

Chamber of Commerce
Councilman Cavanagh, Jr., reported on the
highlights'of the Chamber of Commerce Board
of -Directors.' � meeting held this afternoon
'-He noted that the Chamber sent a letter to
the Planning Commission regarding the pro-
posed modifications .on the General Plan,
and Colonel Waters' gave a detailed report on
the Petaluma River by presenting proposals
to better relations with - visiting yachtsmen.

M. Kennedy claimed' that the plan lines were
obsolete and suggested that the money for street
improvements be for teen -age activities.

of their property..._ City Manager Meyer in-
formed her that the use permit granted to

Following considerable discussion and deliber-
ation, Ordinance #942 N.C.S., establishing
precise pian lines over - certain property
for the_reservation _61- a future right -of -way
for.the proposed realignment of a portion
of Magnolia Avenue and extension of Liberty
.Street, was introduced by Councilman Battag-
lia, seconded .by Councilman Brainerd, and
adopted.by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Battaglia, Brunner, Mattei,
and. Mayor Putnam.
NOES:. Councilman Cavanagh, Jr.
ABSENT: Councilman Brainerd.
ABSTAINING: Councilman Joerger.
In qua- lifying his "no" vote, .Councilman
Cavanagh, Jr., agreed that signalization
of the inter:ecti,on ds imperative but felt
there was something wrong with the plan
