Sixth Street Councilman zoerger. reported that a special
Truck Bari, Traffic Committee meeting was held on August
25, 1969, with two representatives of the
Petaluma Coope'rative Creamery and Mr. Sjosten,
-1-4 . Sixth Street, spokesman of the'.' petition
filed with the Council on August 18, 1969,
requesting truck traffic ban on Sixth Street.
The meeting was `concluded by agreeing to
establish an alternate.route, using Western
Avenue - Howard Street - Washington Street
to the Freeway, said route to become effective;
upon • - •of the,..East WasY ington Street-
McDowell Boulevard "signalization pr-- .oject,, Mr.
Woo "d .added that''ithe removal of 'the truck load
limit on Wash- ington' Street bridge also changes"
the. truck - traffic ; pattern. The Traffic Com=
mittee also recommended to'eliminate parking
on the: south side- of East ,Washington Street

Removal of Parking Councilman Brainerd reported that several months
Meter ago when he served as Council representative on.
the, Traffic Committee - a 12- minute parking' space;
located- ;alongside of the Bank of - Maria on the
easterly a-id'e of�-'Ken:tuck.y Street near. Washington.
Street, was--a- eed upon 'by, the operator of the
Jitney- Bus service and, the Traffic "Committee as
a bus stop adding that. `the .Bank of. Marin at
that time did - not object to the change. Council -
man Brainerd 'stated that, '.the Traffic :Committee
re:commended'to the'.Council that the 12- minute
parking meter'be removed,. Following a, brief
discus'sion' a motion was. made by * Councilman -
Joerger and -seconded by Councilman`Battaglia,
authorizin' - the 'Staff to-remove remove the parking
meter as requested,. if the-location is accept -..
able.-w the bus operator and th;e% removal of
the meter is.-not 'objectionable to the. Bank. o f
- Marin-.. Motion carried unanimously.

Petition—Council City Attorney Robert reviewed memo, dated
Ward System August, 2l, 1969, .regarding petition filed y,4
by.,Mr. Donald Petro, proposing an amend-
ment to the Charter: to =elect Councilmen from
districts. Copy of memo submitted and
-file,d. Mr. •Rob`ett, pointed out '.the problems
involved in the petition and particularly
noted the f' that he believed•the amend-
ment would - be , unconstitutional. He recom-
mended that the-City Clerk be directed not'
to verify •the* signatures and that the Coun-
c'il'.refuse' to call a special election. He
added that it appears -there are insufficient
signatures -on. the ,petition.

State Constitution.' Motion carried unanimously.
