MINUTES OF MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA January '5 , 19 Council Meeting Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma was called to order by Mayor Putnam at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. Attendance Present: Councilmen Battaglia, Brainerd, Brunner, Cavanagh, Jr., Joerger, Mattei, and Mayor Putnam. Absent: None. Invocation The invocation was,given by the Reverend Glenn W. Schafer, Church of the Nazarene. Approval of Minutes The date at the end of Paragraph 2 on Page 4 of the minutes of December 8, 1969 was corrected to January 5, 1970 The minutes of December 8, 1969 were then approved. The minutes of December 15, 1969 were approved as recorded. Vice -Mayor Mayor Putnam welcomed Vice -Mayor Jack Cavanagh, Jr. Cavanagh., Jr.., who returned after an illness of two Ynonths . Remarks - Mayor- Putnam commented on the role of the Mayor Putnam Council for the 1970's in terms of serv- ing the community by exploring all avenues in_an attempt to solve the many local problems as well'as.coo.perating with other agencies on regional problems. She emphasized the importance of the potential of the Petaluma River, which, she predicted, will become a focal point of the '70 In conclusion, the Mayor presented two pictures of the River - one of the -past and one of the present. Fire Chief Benton explained the classes involved in the grading and pointed out the industrial areas requiring addi- tional fire hydrant installations to-cor- rect the deficiencies and improve the rating. It was suggested that Mr. Kutz's song be entered into the- contest and that perhaps a committee be`appointed to work on the s.elect'ion of , an official song.
