Council Meeting Regular meeting of.the- .Council of the
City of Petaluma was.called to order by
Mayor Putnam at : the hour of 7:30 o'clock

mit the Preliminary Budget to June 1,
1970. - .Motion - carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Councilman Mattei
and - seconded by'"Counci,lman Battaglia
approving the 3970 swim pool rates for
the Petaluma Swim Club recommended.

Mr' David Sister was present and. spoke of

recommended a four -way blinker stop for the

Ray Colaizzi, proprietor of .Ray's Grocerry
Store, appeared before the Council stating
that removal 'of. parking. spaces on Western=

Following a lengthy discussion, a motion
was made_ by Councilman "Brainerd install
four -way stop sligris, move the control box,
unplug 'the .bli :yellow lights on'•a tem-
porary basis, and additionally ban parking
for.,a distance -of - 15 feet on Western Avenue
in front of Before -a second.to
the motioh,..•further discussion. fo.l,lowed.
Mr. Colai.zz• suggested that - the red flash -
i light be installed with a. solid red
light- when-operated -by the chool children
and that Western. Avenuebe marked of the
approaching dangerous intersection. He
expressed- - grea,t-concern for-the safety of
the schoolchildren. Mrs. Colaizzi pointed
out that the 157foot red curb.for site dis-
tance..;would not be-needed if • four -way stop
signs,.were- installed; whereupon, an amended
motion was_made - by. Councilman Brainerd and
seconded - by -- Councilman Joerger to install
four -way stop signs 'on - a- temporary basis,
deactivate the traffic signal system, de -.-
lete the removal of the control box and the
1.5 -foot requirement. Motion carried unani-
mows y'...._The °Mayor summarized the action
for clarification: The intersection be
