Council Meeting Regular meeting.of, the Council of the
City of Petaluma was called to order by
Mayor Putnam at the.hour.o.f 7:30 o'clock
p.m.
Attendance

be changed to a two -hour parking zone, ex-
cept that a red zone ,extend�.a` distance... of
62 feet easterly on "D" Street from Fifth
to Fourth Street, and that the easterly•.
side 'of _Fifth` Street along the ;Church pro_
perty 'e,changed to a two -hour parking
zone, He added that this change•, if _
.approved, would eliminate all -day commu-
ter parking.

cil consid eration to shorten the distance_
of. the red curb on "D" Street to provide
one more parking space or change.the red
curb area to a 12- minute or loading zone. -
In the discuas on,'P:oli.ce Chief,L °arry Hig
gins explained that the red zone is-required
to allow proper visibility for motorist's
travelling south on Fifth Street and
mended against shortening the distance..
Various intersections in the - area with
regard to visibility, problems were also
noted.
Following conside`r,ation of' the Traffic Com-
mittee -recomme'ndation and Mr. Loren °z' •re-
quest, the two, ho on Fifth Street
and On. "D" Street. was approved. Howeve
the matter of the red curb. was.referred to-
th'e Traffic Committee- for further study. and
total review'of the intersection as well
as other intersections..in the area with
similar characteristics for a recommenda-
tion to the Council thereon.
Claim in the amount. of $100, filed by
Percy M. Griggs, 506 Baker Street,
personal injuries sustained in -a fall on
the.sidewalk at -5.01 Mountain-View Avenue,
read and•.f.iled: In.response.to Council -
man Cavanagh, Jr., whe:ther or not the .in,-
surance carrier turns the matter over,to
the property owner, City Attorney Robert
stated - that 'he is not aware of. the insur-
ance c`arrier's procedure-but that the pro -
perty owner could be held; howe1er,.the
City is more responsible in most,ca.ses.
